This was our first view when we got off the bus in beautiful Tofino. It was fairly chilly but the sun was out which was a nice touch to the start of the day. As a clue to the love for surfing in the area there were many surf school vans at the parking lot at Cox bay.
Straight after getting on to the beach we greeted by the sight of surfers, likely from the busses at the parking lot. Knowing that we would have sunlight all day I turned on the sunny setting for the white balance.
We did the hike up to the Cox bay viewpoint and it was worth every wrong turn that we made trying to find it. For these photos I widened the aperture to be able to get a clear view of everything.
The second stop was South Chesterman beach. This location has a beautiful beach just like the rest of the beaches in Tofino, but it was special because of the caves that were around which had really neat sights.
For this photo I lowered the aperture to that I could focus on only a few of the bubbles to get a neat effect with
We took a short and sweet stop to Long Beach which was very nice, the water seems to be completely different than the water on the east coast of the island.
Our last stop was also short and sweet at the Bog trail. It was interesting that there can be such different ecosystems on the west coast of the island compared to the easy coast, many of the trees there were very different and almost tropical looking.
The trip to Tofino was very worth it even with the 2 long bus rides in one day. Tofino is such a pretty place and it's a shame that the people of Vancouver Island take these places for granted when there are people who will never see a place quite like this.
